Soccer FAQ

Have more questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at soccer@kunapal.org or on Facebook! Give us a follow to stay up to date with all Kuna PAL offerings and notices!

  1. What is the uniform situation? All age groups, your jersey is included in the registration fee. You are responsible for a pair of black soccer shorts, black soccer socks , cleats, and shin guards prior to the first scheduled game. Contact soccer@kunapal.org if you need help with these items! We try to keep extra shorts, socks, and cleats on hand to help all kids have great equipment and we are always taking your out-grown gear to pass down to those in need. *U4 participants, please just dress in athletic attire.
    1. U4 and U6: Jerseys will be multi-colored athletic shirts, you will keep them after the season.
    2. U8+: In Fall 2024 we moved to a reversible black and white jersey. These are yours to keep and re-use as long as they fit. If you need a new size, mark that on registration. Please pass down your old jerseys that are still in decent shape! You can give them to your coach or to a KPAL representative.
  2. How does coaching work? All coaching is done on a volunteer basis. Even if you have not coached before, we invite you to volunteer this season! Kuna PAL offers one (1) player scholarship for each head coach. Coaches can apply that scholarship to their own registered child or another child on their team. Please contact us if you are interested in being a coach! All coaches are background checked, the cost of which is paid for by Kuna PAL.
  3. Do coaches receive training? U12 and U14 coaches take required trainings before they can be assigned to a team. These include Heads Up and Safe Sport training. We would like to develop further coach training opportunities but will need volunteers to help!
  4. Do you offer scholarships? Yes, scholarships are available for those families who need them. They must be approved by the Kuna PAL board and will go toward registration fees. To request a scholarship application, please reach out to soccer@kunapal.org. We want to provide as much opportunity as possible to our local kids. If you know a kid in need, please let us know as we are happy to work with community partners to provide the opportunity of playing soccer. We are also happy to accept donations and sponsorships to go towards our scholarship program.
  5. How do pictures work? We hire a local photographer and provide a 5x7 team picture to each player, included in your registration fee. Each team receives a picture time slot, although each player will get an individual picture take and the photographer will put the team picture together with her software. This allows for kids that don’t all show up at the same time to still be in the team picture! Individualized links are sent to each parent, using the email you registered for soccer with. Additional photo options are available at that time.
  6. Why is volunteering required? We are a non-profit organization trying to provide the maximum value to the community as possible. The more we can rely on volunteers, the less we have to pay vendors for things. Our board is volunteer, our coaches are volunteers, we want to incentivize our parents to get involved and help make soccer the most enjoyable it can be. A $25 per season opt-out fee is charged to those who do not want to volunteer. You can read our full VOLUNTEER POLICY here.
  7. Why are some games in Kuna and others not? U4 and U6 are played at Arbor Ridge Park in Kuna. We partner with the City of Kuna to use their space and setup fields each Saturday morning! In the spring, our U14 kids have home games at Ross Elementary, in the fall the Lacrosse teams use those fields. Our U12 kids have home games at Winchester Park in both the spring and the fall. The City graciously bought new U12 goals in the spring of 2024 to support the program!
  8. Why do U8 and U10 play in Nampa? Kuna does not have the park space, or available goals, to host more soccer so we partner with the Nampa Premier Soccer Club to play at the College of Western Idaho fields in Nampa.
  9. Where do U12 and U14 Play? We register our U12 and U14 kids under the Idaho Youth Soccer Association’s League America, a recreation league. All
  10. How do I become a ref? We have paid ref positions for our local U6, U12, and U14 games. We hire kids as young as 12 and prefer older middle school or high school age kids to ref U12 and U14. You will receive training and guidance throughout the season from a head ref at the field with you. Email soccer@kunapal.org to get more information.
  11. What do our registration fees pay for? We try extremely hard to keep fees low, and we are one of the lowest cost youth sports in Kuna and certainly in the valley! We pay our youth refs and a head ref, for porta potties, fees to Idaho Youth Soccer Association and Nampa Premier Soccer Association, we pay our program commissioners a little for the hours and hours of work it takes to put this together. We pay for the jerseys, balls, bags, field painting, photographer, and of course insurance.
  12. What is your refund policy? The policy of Kuna PAL is to issue no refunds after the close of late registration. Prior to that day, a refund of the registration fee, minus jersey costs and a 10% administration fee will be issued. You can read our full REFUND POLICY here.
  13. What is the future plan as Kuna grows? Each season we are breaking records for every age group in Kuna PAL soccer. We continue to communicate with the City of Kuna and the Kuna School District, both of which have been amazing partners for the program. The bottom line is, everything is expensive. We are working to make the program as efficient as possible, save money, and grow sponsor relationships to buy more equipment and provide more and more opportunities for our Kuna youth. Please reach out if you’d like to be a partner in that effort!
